“Access Denied” errors mean that we don’t have permission to view a file or folder. In simple terms, we may be using an unauthorized account to access paths, folders, and files on your Windows 11 point of sale or another Windows 11 point of sale. It may be caused by permission errors, misconfigured settings, or file corruption. Sunany provides 6 effective ways to fix the error and get the Windows 11 point of sale back to normal.
1. In most cases, running as an administrator can solve the problem. Right-click, select Properties, and then enable Run the program as an administrator under the Compatibility tab to make it permanent.
2. Checking user permissions is a simple and effective solution.
Find the file we need to access, right-click the file, select Properties, and navigate to the Security tab.
Select our user’s name from the list and check the box for Full Control in the Allow column in the Permissions section. Then, click OK. If our user’s name is not there, we may need to add and change permissions manually.
3. We can also try to take ownership of the file or folder.
Find the file or folder you need to access, right-click it, and select Properties > Security > Advanced.
Change the owner to our account and apply the changes.
4. User Account Control (UAC) is a security feature in the Windows 11 POS operating system that prevents unauthorized operations. We can try disabling it.
Search for “Change User Account Control” settings in the Start menu.
Move the slider to “Never notify”, click “OK”, and then restart.
Remember to re-enable UAC after resolving the problem.
5. If the key is encrypted, the “Access Denied” error will also appear. Right-click the file, select “Properties”, and then check under “Advanced” to see if it is encrypted. If it is encrypted, we need to obtain the decryption key or certificate before you can access it.
6. We can also go to “Settings” > “Windows Update” > “Check for Updates”. Update the drivers for key hardware (such as storage devices and POS peripherals) through Device Manager.
Fixing the “Access Denied” error on a Windows 11 point of sale is not difficult and does not require too many technical steps. Following these solutions provided by Sunany, you can regain access to your files and Windows 11 point of sale. If conditions permit, upgrade your status to administrator to reduce the probability of errors.
