Can Android POS System’s ROM be Upgraded?

April 10, 2024

With businesses expanding and demands rising, Android POS systems may require additional applications or increased storage for data such as sales records and product information.

Most Android POS hardware, utilizing ARM architecture, relies on eMMC as ROM memory. While eMMC ensures stable performance, its main drawback lies in its non-disassemblable nature. In case of ROM failure, professional repair becomes the sole recourse.

Given the above, the Sunany team asserts that self-upgrading the ROM of Android POS systems is nearly unfeasible. Consequently, it’s prudent to factor in ROM capacity when procuring Android POS systems hardware, as this directly impacts budget considerations. What are your thoughts on this matter? We welcome your input and discussion.
