How to Add a Pole Customer Display to a Single-Screen Retail POS System

October 29, 2025

In the retail industry, many businesses enhance their retail POS systems by adding a Pole Customer Display (PCD). This additional screen allows customers to view transaction amounts, item details, and promotional messages in real time—improving engagement and streamlining the checkout process.

During daily operation, however, some businesses may encounter display issues with the customer display, such as image stretching, incorrect aspect ratios, or incomplete content. These problems are usually caused by improper system settings or outdated drivers rather than hardware faults. As an important component of a retail POS system, a stable and clear Pole Customer Display is essential for maintaining a professional and efficient checkout experience. To help you diagnose and resolve such issues quickly, the Sunany technical team offers the following recommendations.

First, check all hardware connections. Ensure that the power and data cables are securely connected and undamaged—for example, Sunany POS hardware typically provides cables such as HDMI, VGA, Type-C, or USB. Loose or faulty cables can cause screen flickering, distortion, or a black screen. Since retail POS system configurations may vary, try swapping cables or ports to troubleshoot hardware issues.

Next, review your system’s display settings. Open the “Display” or “Screen Settings” panel and adjust the resolutions of both screens to suitable values (for example, Sunany PD70 at 1024×600, PD101 at 1280×800). It’s recommended to keep the scaling ratio consistent—typically 100%—and disable options like “Image Stretching” or “Adaptive Scaling” in the display or graphics control panel to maintain correct proportions and sharp visuals. Consistent resolution settings ensure that product details, transaction information, and promotional content are clearly displayed on the customer display, enhancing the professional appearance of your retail POS system.

Then, verify that the display mode is configured correctly. Selecting “Extend these displays” allows each screen to show different content, while “Duplicate display” mirrors the same image on both screens. For most retail POS systems, the extended mode is generally preferred—the main screen is used for cashier operations, while the Pole Customer Display shows transaction details or marketing content to customers. Using the correct display mode helps the system recognize both screens properly and prevents image distortion.

In addition, make sure your graphics and display drivers are up to date. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause resolution errors or display detection problems, especially in dual-screen POS setups. You can obtain the latest drivers through system updates. After updating, restart the system to apply the new settings.

Finally, check whether your POS software supports dual-screen display. Some older versions may not detect the customer display properly, leading to layout or scaling issues. Upgrading to the latest version or contacting your software provider for compatibility support ensures that your POS terminal works seamlessly with the retail POS system.

By following these steps, most display issues between the main screen and the Pole Customer Display can be effectively resolved. If the problem persists, please contact Sunany’s technical support team. We’ll assist you with further diagnosis and provide reliable solutions to ensure your retail POS system runs smoothly and delivers a seamless checkout experience for your customers.
