How to Calibrate a Touch Screen Display Running on a Windows POS System

May 11, 2025

As one of the important peripheral devices of a Windows POS system, the touch accuracy of a touch screen display not only affects the work efficiency of the touch screen display, but also affects the customer’s interactive experience. Therefore, ensuring the accurate calibration of the touch screen display is a necessary operation.

Many of Sunany’s customers choose to run touch screen displays on Windows POS systems because the majority of POS software, financial tools, inventory management systems, and membership platforms are developed primarily for Windows. This ensures better compatibility and a smoother user experience.

Regarding how to calibrate a touch screen display running on a Windows POS system, Sunany engineers provide several key steps:

1. Open the “Control Panel” and click “Hardware and Sound”.
2. Select “Tablet Settings”.
3. In the “Display” tab, click “Calibrate”.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions and click the cross cursors that appear in turn to complete the calibration.
5. Save the calibration data after completion and restart to ensure that the calibration takes effect.

However, during the calibration process, we also need to know some factors that will affect the calibration accuracy of our touch screen display, such as:

1. The ambient temperature, humidity and electromagnetic interference will affect the accuracy of calibration. Therefore, the calibration process is best in a more suitable environment.

2. If the touch screen display that needs to be calibrated has been working for many years, the performance degradation of its hardware components will also affect the accuracy of calibration. If it still cannot be used normally after calibration, Sunany recommends that it is best to replace the touch screen display.

In addition, when our Windows POS system is updated with software, operating system and driver changes, the touch parameters may be reset. Sunany recommends that the touch screen display needs to be recalibrated at this time.
