Windows often releases system updates to introduce new features and security patches. Although the purpose of the update is to make our Windows 10 POS system run more securely and add better settings, why does our Windows 10 POS system sometimes run slowly after the update?
Sunany learned that there are some errors in the Windows update, which introduces some new performance issues to our Windows 10 POS system, such as excessive system resource usage, compatibility issues, file corruption during the update process, etc., which will cause the updated Windows 10 POS system to run slowly.
Understanding the reasons, we can try to use some methods to improve the problem of slow running of the updated Windows 10 POS system. We can try to use the tutorial provided by Sunany to recover.
1. Although it will automatically restart when updating the Windows system, this step may sometimes be skipped.
Click “Start”, select “Power”, and then select “Restart”. If the system does not respond, press and hold the power button to force shutdown, and then turn it back on.
2. Unnecessary startup programs may take up a certain amount of system space. We can disable these unnecessary startup programs.
Press “Ctrl + Shift + Esc” to open Task Manager, go to the “Startup” tab, right-click non-essential programs and select “Disable”.
3. Insufficient disk space can also cause the updated Windows 10 POS system to run slowly. We can free up disk space if necessary.
Windows + S and search for “Disk Cleanup”, select the drive (usually C:) and click “OK”, check the boxes for temporary files and Windows Update cleanup, and click Clean up system files to delete unnecessary data.
4. If the new update causes the Windows 10 POS system to run slowly, rolling back the update will solve the problem. Delete the latest update and postpone updating the Windows 10 POS system until Microsoft can resolve any vulnerabilities in it.
5. The last resort is to restore the Windows 10 POS system to factory settings, but we need to be careful to back up important data in the cloud or external hard drive in advance.
When using the Windows 10 POS system on a daily basis, Sunany recommends waiting until Microsoft releases a complete fix for all system vulnerabilities before deciding whether to update.
