BIOS updates help maintain system stability, improve hardware compatibility, and ensure reliable performance of POS terminals. Sunany provides this guide to help customers safely and efficiently update the BIOS of POS terminals in UEFI mode using a USB flash drive.
Watch the video below for a step-by-step guide on how to update the BIOS in UEFI mode.
BIOS Update Steps
Before you begin, prepare a USB flash drive with a capacity of at least 8 GB.
Insert the USB drive into your computer and format it using the FAT32 file system.
Next, copy the BIOS files to the root directory of the USB drive.
Connect a keyboard to the POS terminal that requires the BIOS update, and plug in the USB drive. For the best compatibility, avoid using USB hubs or expansion ports. Instead, connect the USB drive directly to one of the motherboard’s native USB ports.
Power on the POS terminal, then immediately press F7 or F11 repeatedly to open the Boot Menu.
From the Boot Menu, select the UEFI USB drive.
After a few seconds, the BIOS update utility will launch automatically. On some models, you may need to press Enter to continue.
Wait for the update process to reach 100%. When the message “FPT Operation Passed” appears, the BIOS has been updated successfully.
Remove the USB drive and press the power button to shut down the terminal, then turn it on again.
During the first startup, the system may restart two or three times. This is normal, so please wait until the boot process is complete.
Important: Do not operate the POS terminal or interrupt the BIOS update during the flashing process. Any interruption may cause permanent firmware damage.
