The Meaning of CPU Suffix Letters

There are some people are curious about the meaning of CPU model suffix letters, such as the suffix U of i5-4200U means the ultra-low power. In fact, different suffixes convey product information about the corresponding CPU.

Below is a list of Intel CPU suffix letters:
H: High performance graphics;
K:Unlocked frequency multiplier, which is typically much more expensive gamer CPUs;
M: Mobile as in laptops, tablets and so on;
Q: Quad-core;
S: Performance-optimized lifestyle;
T: Power-optimized lifestyle and typically lower performance;
U: Ultra-low power;
X: Extreme edition which is typically gamer and workstation CPU’s with as many as 10 cores
Y: Extremely low power which is typically used in tablets and Ultrabook’s.
